LAPILJ Second Annual Symposium

Recovery and Reform: The State Budget, the Federal Stimulus, and How Los Angeles Public Interest Lawyers Can Lead the Movement For Change

The Los Angeles Public Interest Law Journal invites you to its second annual Symposium on Friday, October 23rd at UCLA School of Law.

In the morning, come learn the good, the bad and the ugly of the new California Budget that affects your clients.  Demystify the Federal Stimulus Package and learn who benefits from it (and who doesn't).  Discuss the causes and implications of the Budget crisis in California and join the poverty law community effort to create reform that ensures that the State never again places our clients in this position.

In the afternoon, bring stories and questions about your practice for specific panel discussions about the effect of the State Budget and the Federal Stimulus Package on three areas: Public Benefits, Housing, and Labor & Employment.  Learn how your colleagues are coping with draconian cuts to funding, dispel myths and rumors, and be a part of change.

Join us for a unique summit that will inform and inspire Los Angeles public interest lawyers.
