WAGE JUSTICE: A THANK YOU
Nneka

I worked for a tax company, called Instant Tax Service. I was always on time and a good worker. The ITS I worked for overworked their workers and I was often ridiculed and ostracized because I wore a head wrap. I was fired abruptly and never received my final wages. That day the owner attacked me and sent me home with nothing. She physically pulled my scarf off my head and called me names!

I was referred to the Wage Justice Center and they helped me with all the paperwork. They helped me profusely, I was awarded my final wages and my overtime pay and I am so thankful that attorneys Melvin and Matthew were there for me! I was always given information, I was allowed to make my own decisions about what to do next and I learned that I could levy their assets and bank account/s to get my judgment. I am so thankful for the outcome. I can buy a car, pay bills and can now have some money saved up.

I know there is help for people like me who don’t have money to hire an attorney! I know now that I will not work overtime unless I am paid to work overtime and will not walk away without my last wages. I’ll be the first to tell people that the Wage Justice Center helped me. The lawyers are kind, upfront, courteous, efficient and dedicated and truly needed in the community! I feel empowered knowing that I have rights too.
